Durk Derrick Banks (born October 19, 1992), better known as Lil Durk, is an American artist from Chicago, Illinois. He is the core member of the collective and label: Only the Family (OTF).

Durk was affiliated with the Glory Boys Entertainment label in his early days, but he never signed with them. He started to get serious about his career after making his first single, Sneak Dissin which did well in terms of views and buzz.

In December 2012, he did a remix of his song L’s Anthem with French Montana.

On May 21, 2013, he signed to Coke Boys, French Montana’s label.

In 2013, Lil Durk was working with DY and 808 Mafia on the mixtape Durkio Krazy when he was involved in a shooting in Atlanta, he was charged and released the same year. In 2011, he had already been sentenced to three months in prison for carrying an illegal weapon. On parole at this time, Lil Durk recorded the mixtape Love Songs 4 the Streets 2, featuring collaborations from 21 Savage, Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill.

Durk generated buzz around him with the release of his mixtape series Signed to the Streets (2013-2014), which led to him signing a new recording contract with Def Jam Recordings. The label released his first studio albums, Remember My Name (2015) and Lil Durk 2X (2016), before terminating the artist’s contract in 2018. Polo G and Lil Baby), « Backdoor, » and « The Voice »; his appearances on Drake’s 2020 single, « Laugh Now Cry Later » and Pooh Shiesty’s song, « Back in Blood, » The Voice (2020) and his joint album with Lil Baby, The Voice of the Heroes(2021), which became his first release to debut at the top of the Billboard 200.
